Safe Gators - A Look at Best Practices for Managing Outdoor and Athletic Event Risks

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

There are many unique risks and challenges associated with outdoor/athletic events. Over the past 6 years, the University of Florida Athletic Association developed a program to identify Best Practices aimed at keeping fans and workers safe during these events. The program, branded the “Safe Gator Program”, focuses on Safety (weather, heat, temporary structures, and incident reports), Human Health (first aid and emergency response), Security (perimeter security and permissible items), Legal/Regulatory and Risk Assessments, resulting in substantially decreasing liability and worker comp claims and enhancing the overall fan experience. So please join me for this session where I will share and we will discuss the practices in each category that have worked best at achieving our goal of a safe event, because, like we always say at Florida, “In Our Swamp we want all Gators (and non-Gators) to get out alive”.
